20 Most Anticipated Horror Movies of 2026

The joy of being a horror fan is that there's always more great horror movies coming out than you're probably ever going to have time to watch - an embarrassment of gory riches, you could say.

Though filmmakers are currently hard at work on their projects due to release next year, most of which have presumably already been filmed, it's never too early to look a little further ahead and see what the genre's best and brightest are cooking up for the year after.

2026 will be here before we know it, and though the year's horror slate is still being hammered out, from the projects confirmed to drop already and those targeting 2026, it looks like it might well be a banner year for the genre.

From some of the biggest names in horror returning with their buzzy new projects, to promising on-the-rise filmmakers hoping to leave their mark on the industry, and hotly anticipated sequels that fans have been waiting years to see, 2026 is already set to be one hell of a stacked year.

Whatever your genre preferences - campy horror, serious "elevated" horror, or comedy horror - you shouldn't be left wanting in 2026.

Jordan Peele's fourth film - as a follow-up to the acclaimed Get Out, Us, and Nope - was originally announced way back in March 2023 with an intended December 2024 release date, but industry strike action led to the buzzed-about project to be delayed indefinitely.

This summer, however, it was confirmed that Peele's as-yet-untitled new movie will release on Oct. 23, 2026. 

At the time of press, there's no premise or any casting announcements to speak of, though given the seasonal release date - coming barely a week before Halloween - it's fair to assume it'll be another foray into horror for the Oscar-winning filmmaker.

Considering his track record of delivering smart and provocative genre offerings, there's no reason to expect any less this time around.
