20 Most Anticipated Movies For The Rest Of 2026
9. Wild Horse Nine
Where 2027 Oscar contenders are concerned, there are few surer bets than Wild Horse Nine, the new black comedy from the brilliant filmmaker behind In Bruges, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and The Banshees of Inisherin: Martin McDonagh.
McDonagh's latest takes place shortly before the 1973 Chilean coup, as CIA officers Chris (John Malkovich) and Lee (Sam Rockwell) are sent to Easter Island, where they're forced to confront both their haunted pasts and fraught present.
The trailer looks like an absolute riot in a similar tonal vein to McDonagh's prior works, and if the pairing of Malkovich and Rockwell isn't enough, they'll also be joined by the likes of Steve Buscemi, Tom Waits, and Parker Posey.
Given McDonagh's massive prior successes as a filmmaker, it's fair to assume that at least an Oscar or two are in the future of the cast and crew, because this'll almost certainly be one of the smartest, funniest, and most divertingly original releases all awards season.
Wild Horse Nine releases on November 6.
