20 Most Anticipated Movies For The Rest Of 2026

Hollywood may have finally started taking video games seriously, but here's one that it absolutely shouldn't: Street Fighter.

With both prior major live-action Street Fighter movies falling short of the mark, this new take thankfully seems decidedly more self-aware of the legendary fighting game series' inherent absurdity.

With that in mind, Street Fighter is absolutely rolling with the over-the-top insanity, made clear from marketing, which is playing up the colourful characters and thoroughly daft fight choreography amid a ton of wise-cracking. Is the film going to be high-art? Absolutely not, but why would you ever want it to be?

The cast certainly seems to be having fun, and there are some wonderfully inspired picks among the bunch, especially Callina Liang as Chun-Li, Cody Rhodes as Guile, David Dastmalchian as M. Bison, Roman Reigns as Akuma, Jason Momoa as Blanka, and Orville Peck as Vega.

It seems abundantly clear that this Street Fighter movie is being made by people who both love the games and fundamentally understand how to bring them to the screen. We can only hope it does well enough to birth a movie franchise.
