Following the successful recent release of Black Widow, the MCU looks set to get back into full cinematic swing throughout the remainder of 2021, and next up is one of the franchise's more left-field projects to date - Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Simu Liu stars as the titular martial artist, who is drawn into the Ten Rings organisation as he attempts to confront his past, and comes face to face with the Mandarin - the real one this time, as played by screen legend Tony Leung.

Awkwafina, Michelle Yeoh, and Benedict Wong round out the cast in a film which will hopefully not only course-correct the divisive prior depiction of the Mandarin but also finally bring the Ten Rings into the MCU in earnest.

The first trailer certainly sells director Destin Daniel Cretton's (Short Term 12) sharp eye for visuals, and with the film's surprise inclusion of The Incredible Hulk's Abomination, it might end up a far more vital MCU entry than just about anyone's expecting.

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings releases on September 3.
