20 Most Anticipated Sci-Fi Movies Arriving In 2026

1. Dune: Part Three

The Mandalorian Season 3
Warner Bros.

UK release date: 18th December

Denis Villeneuve’s epic conclusion to his adaptation of Frank Herbert's Dune brought Paul Atreides (Timothee Chalamet) from boy to man, outcast to leader, and felt like a solid way to cap the story. And yet, while Villeneuve could have properly tied things off there, he chose to leave certain narrative threads open and end on Paul launching an attack on the orbiting fleet above Arrakis, thereby basically ensuring that a) the director would get funding for the next picture, and b) people would come and see it.

Well, guess what, he was gosh-darned right. Part Two’s ending has us hooked and baying for more. But, even if the story didn’t feel open to another chapter, Part Two was such a beautifully shot, well-acted, masterfully directed film that people would be crying out for more regardless.

And more we shall have, because Dune: Part Three is underway, with Villeneuve at the helm and the large cast of modern greats all signed on again to take us farther in the Known Universe than we have gone before. Not only that, but we will see Anya Taylor-Joy’s Alia Atreides for real for the first time (not just as a hazy dream-vision), Jason Momoa returns as Duncan Idaho (or at least his ghola), and Robert Pattinson is also on board for this outing, rumoured to be the villainous Face Dancer Scytale who will seek to destroy the newly minted Atreides dynasty.
