20 Most Anticipated Upcoming Horror Movies

As we mentioned earlier, 2017 saw The Conjuring series (i.e. the two Conjuring movies, and the two Annabelle spin-off movies) break the $1 billion mark at the global box office, which is a pretty rare feat for a horror franchise. Small wonder, then, that Warner Bros/New Line Cinema are eager to expand that spooky cinematic universe even further.

So it is that this summer will see the arrival of The Nun, another Conjuring spin-off centred on Valak, a Bride of Christ but a mistress of Satan, introduced in 2016's The Conjuring 2. Like the Annabelle movies before it, this will be a prequel exploring the character's beginnings, and actress Bonnie Aarons returns in the title role.

Corin Hardy, one of the most buzzed-about new horror directors of recent years (long attached to The Crow reboot), calls the shots, whilst The Conjuring director James Wan produces. The cast includes Taissa Farmiga and Demián Bichir.
