15. A Quiet Place

Paramount

Real-life spouses Emily Blunt and John Krasinski play a screen couple in this fascinating-looking horror, which Krasinski also directs.

Little has been revealed plot-wise, but as the trailer above shows, A Quiet Place centres on a family living on a farm, who exist day-to-day in total silence and communicate solely via sign language, in the hopes of hiding their presence from some as-yet unspecified threat listening in.

If, as the trailer suggests, the film will play out entirely (or largely) without dialogue, it should make for a very unique viewing experience; and while Krasinski may be largely untested as a director, comedian Jordan Peele proved with Get Out that great horror filmmakers can come from unlikely beginnings.

And perhaps the biggest shocker for long-term horror fans: this is a very promising, entirely original horror movie from Michael Bay's production house Platinum Dunes! Quite an about-face, considering how long that company was synonymous with soulless, cash-grabbing remakes: Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street etc.

Release: 6 April.

Ben Bussey hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
