Horror movies aren't the only place worth checking if you're looking for a disgusting death scene, as Jacques Audiard's gritty prison drama A Prophet proves. Life in prison isn't easy, and if you don't have any connections on the inside it won't be long before you fall on the wrong side of the wrong person. New inmate Malik realises this quickly enough, and when he's asked to assassinate a key witness to a prosecution he knows better than to refuse. Concealing a razor blade in his mouth, Malik ingratiates himself with the victim before flicking the weapon between his teeth and slashing his throat. Filmed with an eye for realism as opposed to the sensationalism found in horror, it's a wince-inducing and disturbing moment from one of the most compelling prison dramas in recent years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=am3v6RdOxfY
