19. Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw

Billed As: Set two years after the events of The Fate of the Furious, federal agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and former Special Forces assassin Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham) team up to stop Brixton Lore (Idris Elba), a cyber-genetically enhanced terrorist.

Hype: That’s right, they’ve made another one. It’s a spin-off to the main franchise following Hobbs and Shaw joining forces, but instead of bringing something new to the table, it seems this installment will continue to stick closely to the movies that became before it.

Although many miss the street racing vibes, the focus here is still on the genetically enhanced bad guys, which at least still makes it look fun and stylish – those being key qualities of the Fast and the Furious franchise.

It being directed by David Leitch definitely creates more interest as he did an excellent job with Atomic Blonde.

Statham and Johnson remain well respected actors in the action genre and continue to live up to their name, meaning they should deliver solid performances. It won’t be a critical hit, but Hobbs & Shaw should still be good fun.
