20 Most WTF Moments In The DCEU (So Far)
2. Henry Cavill's Digital Moustache Removal - Justice League
There isn't a single DCEU moment more widely ridiculed than the wholly misguided decision to digitally erase Henry Cavill's mustache during post-production of Justice League.
The story is thus: Cavill was called back for Justice League reshoots while shooting his mustachioed role for Mission: Impossible - Fallout, and Paramount quite understandably wouldn't let him shave it.
As a result, Warner Bros. made the decision to press on with reshoots and paint out Cavill's mustache with CGI before release.
The results, predictably, were risible: from the movie's opening scene, it's painfully clear there's something "off" about Cavill's face, as much of his jaw has basically been reconstructed from scratch.
Considering the film was tasked with bringing Superman back to the fold as a beacon for humanity, it didn't help that he spent most of it looking like some ersatz abomination.
Clearly Warner Bros. should've either committed to the moustache - which, honestly, would've been a lot less embarrassing - or shot around Cavill and taken the financial hit on rescheduling his scenes post-Fallout.
In the end they delivered a $300 million joke of a movie, and one of the great reliefs of the Snyder Cut was that Cavill's janky plastic jawline was nowhere to be seen.
