20 Movie Scenes That Are Totally Flawless

1. The Stories That Really Mattered - The Lord Of The Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

In the second instalment of Peter Jackson's epic Lord of the Rings trilogy, heroic hobbits Frodo (Elijah Wood) and Sam (Sean Astin) find themselves captured by Faramir (David Wenham) and his army of Rangers.

Faramir hopes to present the hobbits and the One Ring to his cruel father Denethor (John Noble), but before he can do so they're attacked and Frodo, briefly overpowered by the allure of the Ring, tries to kill Sam, and then laments about the impossibility of their task.

Sam then takes a stand and forces Frodo to confront the fact that their mission is necessary for the good of Middle-earth, and that they have to keep going despite the odds stacked against them.

It's a rousing speech brought to life by a fantastic Sean Astin performance, interspersed with scenes from the spell-binding Battle of Helm's Deep. The fact that it even makes Andy Serkis's Gollum tear-up speaks volumes.
