20 Movie Sequels That Are Totally Flawless
15. Three Colours: White (1994)
The second part of Krzysztof Kieślowski's Three Colours trilogy is all about revenge, as Polish barber Karol Karol is abandoned by his unloving wife and soon slips into a downward spiral of crime, depression, mourning, and eventually vengeance.
Even given its focus on the idea of revenge against a former loved one, White is surprisingly the lightest offering in the trilogy, applying a frank and dark comedy to Karol's desperation whilst analysing the true complexities of what people may or may not be willing to do in their grief.
With arresting performances courtesy of stars Zbigniew Zamachowski and Julie Delpy, and an exciting use of time and minimalist imagery, the conceptual sequel is just as seamlessly achieved as its predecessor, Blue, and in many ways is even more hauntingly complex.
