Back in 2014, John Wick changed the face of the noir action-thriller forever. It was a gloriously violent tale of veteran assassins, mobsters, and why killing dogs is a very, very bad thing to do, and it had mountains of substance under its slick aesthetic and Keanu Reeves' grisly performance.

No one knew what to really expect from Chapter 2, but few could have foreseen what we got - an energised, dramatic action epic that forces Wick completely out of retirement and has him clash with the world he was once so infamously a part of.

With an increased scope and even more emotional resonance, John Wick: Chapter 2 sheds new light on both the eponymous killer and the world he left behind, making every kill, every setting change, and every encroaching threat feel impossibly real and devastating. To date, it remains the best of the series, and it'll be tough to top.
