20 Movie Sequels That Were JUST Confirmed
17. Rush Hour 4
Though the first two Rush Hour movies were monstrous hits at the box office, 2007's threequel underperformed, grossing almost $100 million less than Rush Hour 2 and failing to fully recoup its huge $180 million budget.
Even so, Jackie Chan, Chris Tucker, and franchise director Brett Ratner have continually talked up Rush Hour 4 in the near-20 years since, yet there were enough stalled starts that many gave up hope of it ever actually going before cameras.
Beyond the obvious prospect that modern audiences just aren't interested in Rush Hour, there's the fact that Chan is now in his 70s, Tucker barely acts anymore, and Ratner was accused of sexual misconduct by numerous women in 2017.
But back in November, Paramount announced that Rush Hour 4 was indeed a-go with Chan, Tucker, and Ratner all returning.
Strangest of all, the sequel reportedly entered development at the personal request of President Donald Trump, and considering that Ratner recently directed a documentary about Trump's wife Melania, it's easy to see how this gross jigsaw puzzle came together.
Though there's still considerable nostalgia for the Rush Hour franchise, that doesn't mean there's a huge appetite for more, especially with the project's questionable behind-the-scenes machinations.
