Swedish actor Michael Nyqvist started out acting in several critically acclaimed homegrown films including Lukas Moodysson’s commune set comedy Together and Academy Award nominated comedy drama As It Is in Heaven before rising to international fame in his role as Mikael Blomkvist in the film adaptation of Stieg Larsson’s Millennium book series alongside Noomi Rapace.

He later played a Russian villain alongside Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol and again in John Wick alongside Keanu Reeves and more recently played a Parisian playboy in Michael Ross’ psychosexual neo noir Frank & Lola in 2016.

Three films starring Nyqvist – action thriller Hunter Killer, Terrence Malick directed historical drama Radegund and Kursk, a drama based on the true story of the 2000 Kursk submarine disaster – will be released posthumously in 2018.
