20 Film & TV Remakes You Didn't Know Were Coming
10. Charlie's Angels
Charlie's Angels was something of a staple of the early 2000s action scene, with the initial big screen reboot of the TV series dropping in 2000 before the sequel, Full Throttle, released three years later. Unfortunately, the 2019 reimagining simply couldn't get off the ground.
Going even further than that, it was arguably one of the most talked about box office bombs in recent memory. Director Elizabeth Banks has since expressed some strong opinions on why the film failed, while star Kristen Stewart has herself even said that it was never going to work without the involvement of Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu, and Drew Barrymore.
According to new reports however, that could change with yet another reboot just seven years after the last. Yes, Sony is once again reviving Charlie's Angels in another attempt to bring the franchise into the modern day, and this time, it would seem that Diaz, Liu, and Barrymore are set to return.
In what capacity exactly is hard to say, though the project is firmly being referred to as a reboot and not a sequel. The news is rather surprising in that both Diaz and Barrymore have largely stepped away from their acting careers (though Diaz has returned recently). Whether or not this will be enough to reignite the franchise is impossible to say, but almost automatically it will likely lend the new version more interest than the previous one right off the bat.
