20 Movies You Weren't Expecting To Make You Cry

No-one would've expected Fast & Furious, that big, brash, and cartoonish action franchise, to ever produce a tear-jerker, but yes, they did. Much like with Final Destination Bloodlines, it was thanks to real-life tragedy.

Franchise lead Paul Walker shockingly died in a car accident during filming, meaning that the film was reworked into a send-off to Walker's character, Brian O'Connor. Prior to release, it looked likely that this movie would be a mess.

In fact, it was a great movie, one of the very best in the series, and as for its tribute to Walker? It didn't just work, it worked amazingly. The film's concluding montage of Brian O'Connor is almost unbearably affecting, and the love that the cast and crew held for Walker reverberates through every frame.

This closing sequence is soundtracked by the mega-hit See You Again, written in tribute to Paul Walker. It was overplayed a lot at the time, and it has many detractors, but if you're a Fast & Furious fan, that song is likely to still likely to hit you in the feels.

Few, if any, movies have ever paid tribute to a deceased cast member so well, and even aside from that, Furious 7 offers other moments of unexpected tenderness. Most notably, there's a brilliantly done storyline with Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) finally overcoming her amnesia and remembering her past with Dom, including a reveal that the pair actually married before her apparent death.
