20 Perfect Scenes In God-Awful Horror Movies

13. Catch! - Deadly Friend

Deadly Friend
Warner Bros

Deadly Friend follows a teenage prodigy who revives his crush, Samantha, as an android. To his surprise, the girl of his dreams is reborn as a robotic killer. Deadly Friend is B-movie material, but it could be a lot of fun, especially with Wes Craven helming the project.

But the film's biggest issue is its tone since it gracelessly switches between pure horror to campy comedy, usually failing at both. Not only that, the pointless dream sequences creates a choppy, inconsistent narrative.

However, there's a certain scene that deserves special mention. At one point, Samantha corners an elderly woman called Elvira in her house, hurling her against the wall. Elvira is a real curmudgeon, so you expect her to receive a larger-than-life death.

But nobody's ready for what happens next. While at Samantha's mercy, the cyborg throws a basketball at Elvira's face. Due to Samantha's superstrength, she launches the ball with the force of a cannon, causing Elvira's head to explode on impact.

Just when it looks like things couldn't get more ridiculous, the old crone's headless body starts flopping around the room, while gallons of blood spew from her neck.

Without exaggerating, this 20-second clip is more entertaining than every other scene Deadly Friend has to offer put together.
