Predicted Critical Consensus: "Tom Cruise gives it his all as usual, but despite a tantalising distaff twist, The Mummy ultimately feels too formulaic and familiar to satisfy all but the most undemanding audiences."

Cruise may have a string of successful blockbusters to his name, but that doesn't make him impervious to a critical bashing or two, and it's hard to see this one going down well with pundits regardless of how well it probably fares at the box office.

It'll serve as watchable escapist entertainment such that it won't get outright panned, but it'll come and go without great fanfare, that much seems likely.
