14. Kill Me, Chill Me, Thrill Me
Horror films should do exactly what they say on the tin - horrify the viewer. Some film fans are wimps, they take refuge in romantic comedy, some film fans simply think horror is goofy, they watch highbrow stuff. But for us horror fans, the point of watching horror is to be shocked and to have a bloody good scare. That's why the most venerated horror films are the scariest ones. Who can ever forget their heart skipping a beat when Sadako crawled through the television in Ringu? Who can wipe from their mind the mental image of Leatherface going after Sally in hot pursuit with a big chainsaw in Texas Chainsaw Massacre? What about little Regan in the Exorcist puking green slime and rotating her head backwards whilst screaming profanities in a demonic voice? Some people just love to be scared and that accounts for the popularity of the horror genre.
