20 Recent Horror Movies WAY Better Than Expected
11. Borderline
Considering that Samara Weaving is one of horror's most revered Scream Queens right now, it was a tad strange that her recent film Borderline was sent out to die in just 25 cinemas in the U.S. while releasing on streaming the very same day to little fanfare.
It didn't help that reviews were held off until the day before release, seeming to suggest that this deranged home invasion horror-thriller fell far short of the mark.
But ultimately Borderline delivered far more than it didn't, largely thanks to an utterly twisted central performance from Ray Nicholson - yes, son of Jack - as an unhinged man obsessed with a pop star (Weaving).
Even though reviews were relatively mixed, Borderline turned out to be a much stranger and more interesting film than either its generic marketing or its totally below-the-radar release would suggest, serving as an intriguing feature debut for Weaving's filmmaker hubby Jimmy Warden.
