18. Silent Night, Deadly Night
When a remake of the infamous 1984 Yuletide slasher flick Silent Night, Deadly Night was first announced, it was tough to muster much enthusiasm.
After all the original film, while hardly good in any genuine sense, at least has a distinctive, of-its-time vibe, enough to make a remake seem like a rather feckless endeavour.
It didn't help that Silent Night, Deadly Night was previously redone with 2012's mostly-ignored loose remake Silent Night, nor that Cineverse sent this new one into the void with barely any marketing.
But Silent Night, Deadly Night 2025 was a real hoot against the odds, benefitting from the solid directorial chops of Mike P. Nelson, a strong Rohan Campbell in the lead role, a bevy of gonzo kills, and a more self-aware tone than its predecessors.
Though some might miss the meaner streak of the original film, this remake largely paid fitting tribute to it while venturing off in its own unhinged direction.
