20 Recent Movies That Deserve A Sequel

As is the case with the Alien franchise, it is a good time to be a Predator fan thanks to Dan Trachtenberg. Prey, Killer of Killers, and Badlands have all been outstanding, and have given the series a platform to do so much more going forward.

Badlands, the most recent outing, showed a Yautja, Dek (Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi), as the protagonist for the first time, and opened up a whole new world of storytelling possibilities. Tie this in with the delicious sequel tease at the end, and you have another film simply crying out to be made.

Trachtenberg himself has poured water on this particular fire, saying he almost rushed through Killers and Badlands to get to a separate third idea. This, and the fact that Badlands bombed at the box office, suggests we may not see Dek again.

This would be incredibly unfair, not only because the movie was so much fun, but because of the awesome tease at the end. There is a ready-made sequel with Dek stepping up from fighting against his father to taking on his mother, and while whatever Trachtenberg chooses to do with the franchise next will likely be great, it would be okay to feel a little short-changed if the Badlands storyline is abandoned completely.
