20 Recent Movies That Deserve A Sequel

As said before, sequels coming from movies in the Multiverse Saga of the MCU are far from guaranteed, and Thunderbolts* may just be the epitome of that. The New Avengers have to be considered among the favourites to not come out the other side of Doomsday and Secret Wars, likely to be replaced with Sam Wilson's (Anthony Mackie) true Avengers.

That said, the film itself was one of, if not the best post-Endgame outing. It was the classic Marvel mix of humour, action, and emotion, with the third act truly reaching the depths that comic book movies rarely ever do.

Sebastian Stan himself has said he is open to a sequel, though Bucky is more likely than anyone to have died by the end of Phase Six, but as long as Florence Pugh returns as Yelena, then this could be worth doing. She has stolen every single scene she has ever had in the MCU, across Black Widow, Hawkeye, and Thunderbolts*, and has more than enough in the tank to carry another group of misfits to redemption and relevance.

No, Thunderbolts* was not a huge success at the box office, bringing in just $382 million, but this largely came down to a complete lack of proper marketing. With the world now knowing how good the film was, a second outing, potentially with a changed roster, would likely prove far more lucrative for Marvel Studios.
