20 Rotten Tomatoes Predictions For 2022's Biggest Movies

The upcoming Mario animated movie is being produced by Illumination, the outfit behind Despicable Me, The Secret Life of Pets, Sing, and so on.

Of the studio's eleven released movies, six have been rated Fresh and five Rotten, and as iconic and appealing as Mario is, adapting the character to the big screen is going to be a massive challenge.

Given the vitriol already directed towards the film for casting Chris Pratt as Mario, it's facing an uphill struggle to win critics and especially fans over, and so it seems logical to predict wildly mixed reviews.

Factor in the low batting average of video game movies and it's easy to put this down as leaning towards mixed-negative, as much as we'd all love to be wrong.
