20 Rotten Tomatoes Predictions For 2022's Biggest Movies

15. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets Of Dumbledore (49%)

Buzz Lightyear
Warner Bros. Pictures

The third Fantastic Beasts film is incredibly tough to gauge.

The original pulled in a respectable 74% - albeit still lower than all the Harry Potter movies - while the sequel cratered with a shambolic 36%, as it became clear that Warner Bros. didn't have a particularly compelling throughline mapped out for their planned five-film (!) franchise.

The Secrets of Dumbledore has a hell of a lot working against it - the sour taste left by its predecessor, the awkward attempts it might make to course-correct its mistakes, the dual controversies surrounding J.K. Rowling and Johnny Depp, and of course Depp being recast with Mads Mikkelsen.

The trailer doesn't look bad, but does it actually look good? Then again, if you've been following any of the credible leaks posted in recent months, you'll be smart to keep your expectations low-ish for this.

Landing somewhere between the two previous films feels right - more positive than the last, but still nowhere near as good as the first.
