20 Rules You Must Follow To Survive A Slasher Movie

18. Leave Your Camcorder At Home

This, as a rule, should apply to EVERY horror film - not just slashers. Anyone that takes a camcorder on a vacation, after all of the warnings from films like Blair Witch Project, [.rec], Cloverfield and the like, isn't paying attention. There's nothing that serial killers like better than butchering victims in the knowledge that their actions are being documented. Of course, it could be argued that in the era of smartphones, no-one should be carrying a camcorder nowadays anyway. Hopefully that puts an end to found-footage films that inevitably conclude with a shot of video static.
