20 Sick Cannibal Movies You Need To See Before You Die

19. Cannibal Ferox

The trailer for Cannibal Ferox proudly declares it's one of the most violent films ever made, featuring "at least two dozen scenes of barbaric torture and sadistic cruelty." With this subgenre, entire marketing campaigns based themselves on how shocking and brutal the product would be. In this movie, a pair of siblings and their friend travel into the rain forest to prove that cannibalism is a myth. Along the way they meet two men who came to find emeralds and cocaine, but while doing so made the natives very angry. Right away, Ferox shares with Cannibal Holocaust the idea that our lead characters are almost as sadistic as these cannibals. Soon they're captured, and all the torture begins. Just like Cannibal Holocaust, Cannibal Ferox features actual animals being killed including a pig and a turtle. A guy's eye dangles out, piranhas tear someone's leg apart, there's castration, impaling, severed limbs, and plenty of organs and brains being eaten. It's just downright sadistic, and naturally it was placed on the infamous "video nasties" list. In many countries it still isn't available in its uncut form, and only in North America has the uncensored version been released. Given how absolutely vile most of the cut scenes are, maybe that's for the best.
