Paragon appeared in the seventh-season episode of Deep Space Nine, Prodigal Daughter. He played Thadial Boker, a villainous representative of the Orion Syndicate, working alongside the Tigan family business, the homeplace of Ezri Dax.

Paragon was an actor, writer, and director for several decades. He portrayed Jambi the Genie in Pee-Wee's Playhouse, returning to the role on the Broadway version of the show, opening on the Stephen Sondheim stage in 2010. Along with Paul Reubens, he co-wrote Pee-Wee's Playhouse: Christmas Special in 1988, for which he received an Emmy nomination.

He collaborated with Cassandra Peterson, known professionally as Elvira, Mistress of the Dark, on many of the Elvira productions. He had met her when they appeared as part of the Groundlings improvisational group, along with Reubens and Phil Hartman.

He died April 3, 2021, at 66 years of age.
