20 Terrible 2014 Movies That Should Never Have Happened
17. RoboCop
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 48% 80s action aficionados were up in arms ever since the RoboCop reboot was first announced, and the final product only justified their fears, an efficiently-filmed but ultimately toothless take on a movie so brilliantly (and violently) brought to the screen by Paul Verhoeven. Where to begin? New baddie Antoine Vallon (Patrick Garrow) is no match for Kurtwood Smith's sadistic Clarence Boddicker, the satire isn't as good, Alex's "death" scene is too tame (and he doesn't even die), and above all else, it's rated PG-13, which is just what every fan of the classic original feared. Joel Kinnaman is effective enough as Murphy, but there's just no need or reason for the film to exist beyond money-spinning. Brilliant actors like Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman and Michael Keaton are summarily wasted throughout, though at least the movie's tepid box office ensures that a sequel won't be coming anytime soon.
Stay at home dad who spends as much time teaching his kids the merits of Martin Scorsese as possible (against the missus' wishes).
