A child could tell you that Shriek’s ‘monster’ is a man wearing white face paint, plastic fangs and what looks like a lamb wool coat, but the filmmakers appear to be in on the joke, hence the theme song that includes the lyrics “He’s mean and gruesome/He’ll make your threesome into a twosome.”

The real reason to watch is the (intentional?) similarities to Scooby Doo: the teenagers drive a van with flower decals on the side, the brainy girl falls down and loses her glasses and the monster turns out to be a villain in a costume.
