20 TERRIFYING Scenes In TERRIBLE Horror Movies

3. The Fool - Tarot

Nothing says creative bankruptcy like a horror movie based on tarot cards, and while Tarot is indeed a forgettably by-the-numbers supernatural slasher flick with a sanitised PG-13 rating, it does briefly do justice to one of its central antagonists.

Basically, the main characters find themselves attacked by whichever Tarot card they drew at the start of the movie, and so Paxton (Jacob Batalon) is terrorised by The Fool.

The result is a genuinely creepy sequence where Paxton is walking home and suddenly pursued by the Fool - a humanoid figure wearing a jester outfit.

Paxton makes a dash for the safety of his dorm building, but when he takes the elevator, the Fool can be faintly seen waiting for him on the other end of an incredibly dark, dingy hallway.

All Paxton can do is watch as the Fool contorts its way towards him, and then finally crashes through the roof of the elevator before apparently killing him.

Even though it's later revealed that Paxton inexplicably survived this incident, in the moment it totally works, largely due to the moody staging and the frankly awesome design of the Fool's mask - which clearly belonged in a much better movie.
