8. Your Exposition Is Too Obvious

Screenwriting guru Robert McKee summed up exposition as follows: "Exposition means facts - the information about setting, biography and characterisation that the audience needs to know to follow and comprehend the events of the story." The challenge is trying to deliver this sort of information without it seeming too obvious, or unnatural. Likelihood is your first screenplay is still heavy on bad exposition, so comb through and try to imagine if somebody would
really say that under the circumstances.
7. Are You Sure That Joke Is Funny?

A bad joke or a failed attempt at humour in a screenplay is something you want to avoid like your weird uncle at a birthday party. If you're not 100% sure that an attempt to be amusing is bonafide gold, ask somebody (ask ten people, even) whether or not they think what you've got hits its target. If a large percentage of your confidants say that they "don't get it," maybe stick to drama.
