4. It Took Just 35 Days To Shoot 1996's Biggest British Movie

If it hasn't been made clear already, the fact this extremely low budget tale of a bunch of Scottish addicts trying to make their way through life managed to take the world by storm is still a little mind-blowing to this day.

With the budget of the flick itself being a mere £1.5 million, the film's eventual £48 million earnings made it the biggest British film of 1996. Not too shabby, I think you'll agree.

And if that wasn't impressive enough, the entire project was put together over the course of just 35 days. PolyGram were also so convinced that the project would be a bona fide mega hit that they put aside an unprecedented £800,000 to use for promotional purposes for the film. And it's safe to say their gamble more than paid off.
