Roger Moore was described as being a bit long in the tooth when he appeared in his last Double-0 Seven film – a fact that he agreed with. Even though the well-loved British actor had a tendency to rely upon stuntmen in his Bond pictures, he readily jumped into action when there was no alternative.

In the thrilling sequence in which James Bond and Stacey Sutton (Tanya Roberts) commandeer a fire truck to escape from the San Francisco Police Department, it was discovered that the stunt driver engaged to drive the rear of the truck was too short to fulfil the role.

There was no time to install a rig for the stunt driver, so Moore – who had been a truck driver before embarking upon his acting career – navigated the streets of San Francisco himself during several sequences!

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
