4. The LA Riots Influenced The Film's Music

Because Elliot Goldenthal was a struggling music composer for years, he must've felt like he hit the jackpot when he was hired as Alien³'s composer. Of course, it wasn't long before he, like everyone connected to the production, realised how nightmarish his job was going to be. Because of constant delays, he spent over a year working and reworking the score. When the ending was reshot, Goldenthal had to create a new song in a couple of hours, days before the film was released.

Weirdly, the Los Angeles riots were occurring while Goldenthal was recording the soundtrack for Alien 3. According to David Fincher, the riots got dangerously close to the lab where the negatives were kept, meaning the film could've potentially been burned to a crisp (which Fincher admitted would have suited him just fine). Goldenthal stated that he used the rioters' frustration to contribute to the film's chaotic and atmospheric score.
