20 Things You Didn't Know About Batman & Robin

12. An Entire Poison Ivy Sub-plot Was Abandoned

Batman & Robin
Warner Bros.

Character development was never exactly Batman & Robin's strongpoint, but an entire subplot revolving around Uma Thurman's Poison Ivy was shot, only to get left on the cutting room floor during post production.

Bruce Wayne and Pamela Isley were originally set to do a bit of extended flirting that would see the billionaire playboy ditched by his squeeze, leading him to wonder why he was so fixated on the mystery woman. Bruce and Alfred would then hit the books and do some research before eventually discovering that Isley and Poison Ivy were one and the same.

Instead, the production decided to ditch the eleaborate backstory altogether and simply have the dots connected by a couple of photographs and a lightbulb going off in Bruce's head.

I don't do social media, so like or follow me in person but please maintain a safe distance or the authorities will be notified. Don't snap me though, I'll probably break. I was once labelled a misogynist on this very site in a twenty paragraph-long rant for daring to speak ill of the Twilight franchise. I stand by what I said, it's crap.
