Ridley Scott has stated in interviews that Blade Runner shares a universe with the Alien series, and that the film's setting is where the Nostromo crew would likely reside when returning to Earth. However, while this is not made explicit in either film, there is another work that is clearly linked to Blade Runner.

1998's Soldier, written by Blade Runner writer David Peoples and action movie hack Paul W. S. Anderson, features several direct nods to Blade Runner. The wreckage of one of the film's iconic Spinners can be seen on the junk planet, and Kurt Russell's character is shown to have fought in battles on the Shoulder Of Orion and Tannhäuser Gate - both referenced directly in Roy Batty's final "Tears In Rain" monologue.
