Charlize Theron came to acting in a roundabout way. She first hoped to become a professional ballet dancer until a knee injury put paid to that ambition, but Theron had already enjoyed some success as a model before finding her way in Hollywood.

Her modelling experience is something she shares with several of the women to whom she plays mother hen in Fury Road.

Rosie Huntington-Whitely, who plays Splendid, may only have one other screen credit to her name in the shape of Transformers: Dark Of The Moon but over a decade fronting campaigns for the likes of Victoria’s Secret and Burberry has made her a world-famous model.

Zoë Kravitz, daughter of rock star Lenny and actress Lisa Bonet, and Elvis’s granddaughter Riley Keough also have experience with modelling to go with their screen careers, and Abbey Lee and Courtney Eaton are no strangers to the catwalk.

Lee and Eaton, who play The Dag and Fragile respectively, both make their feature film debuts in Fury Road, and having several colleagues with similar backgrounds on hand for advice and support can only have aided their transition to acting in a high-profile movie production.

I watch movies and I watch sport. I also watch movies about sport, and if there were a sport about movies I'd watch that too. The internet was the closest thing I could find.
