For many of the actors to portray Double-0 Seven, the pressure of constantly trying to outdo the previous film is stressful and incredibly tying; once they have played the character several times, the novelty soon starts to wear off.

Daniel Craig had intended SkyFall to be his last Bond film, but was lured back for one more entry in the series. He was non-committal about returning beyond that, so the filmmakers asked the writers to leave Ernst Stavro Blofeld alive at the end of the film and to write a happy yet open ending to allow Craig to return if he wished to.

Bond would originally have told Madeleine Swann that “we have all the time in the world” as they drove down Whitehall in the Aston Martin DB5, referencing On Her Majesty’s Secret Service; he would also have thrown his Walther PPK into the Thames as they crossed Westminster Bridge.

Craig’s controversial comments whilst promoting the film created serious doubts about whether he would return to the role and the going assumption was that he would not. Even Craig himself considered that he would not, until Barbara Broccoli convinced him that Bond's character arc had not yet been completed, necessitating one last performance as the quintessential British agent in No Time To Die.

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
