Regardless of only originally costing $22,000 to make, The Blair Witch Project went on to achieve a box office return that saw the movie achieve a spot in The Guinness Book of World Records.

The particular accolade nabbed by the 1999 movie was the record for Top Budget: Box Office Ratio – as in, the film got the very biggest bang for its buck.

When all was said and done during The Blair Witch Project’s initial cinema run, the film had brought home a ridiculous $248 million. By any measure, seeing an independent feature achieve such a box office haul is all kinds of impressive, and it’s even more-so when you look at the budget involved for this indie picture.

To put this achievement into even further perspective, The Blair Witch Project made $10,931 for each single dollar of the film’s budget.
