Spaghetti westerns are known in part - aside from their brutal violence and pessimistic worldview - for their incredibly poor voice dubbing, which is frequently of rather low audio quality and questionable lip-syncing. Italian-made productions at the time never recorded any audio live, as the standard of soundproofing in Italian studios was frequently poor. Actors would speak in their native languages and be dubbed into other languages in post-production.

As the vast majority of the cast for The Good, The Bad and The Ugly was Italian, barely anyone was actually speaking English on set. The film's 3 leads, Clint Eastwood, Eli Wallach and Angel Eyes almost always acted opposite performers speaking a completely different language to them, which can't have been an easy task.

The only 2 other actors who spoke any English during production were Al Mulock and John Bartha, who both appeared in comparatively tiny roles.
