20 Things You Didn't Know About The World Is Not Enough (1999)

10. Bond’s Line Of Credit

James Bond carries a very inventive and useful device in The World Is Not Enough: a lock pick concealed inside a Visa Platinum credit card, which he uses to gain access to the office of Elektra King’s suspicious head of security, Sasha Davidov (Ulrich Thomsen).

However, whilst being one of Bond’s most novel, practical, and unsung gadgets, it was a repurposed one; 14 years earlier, Double-0 Seven (Roger Moore) had used a Sharper Image credit card to unlock one of the windows of Stacey Sutton’s (Tanya Roberts’s) mansion in A View to a Kill (1985).

In modern times, when even doors are becoming increasingly reliant on digital technology, both of these gadgets may be fondly-remembered tools of a bygone era.

Contributor

I started writing for WhatCulture in July 2020. I have always enjoyed reading and writing. I have contributed to several short story competitions and I have occasionally been fortunate enough to have my work published. During the COVID-19 lockdown, I also started reviewing films on my Facebook page. Numerous friends and contacts suggested that I should start my own website for reviewing films, but I wanted something a bit more diverse - and so here I am! My interests focus on film and television mainly, but I also occasionally produce articles that venture into other areas as well. In particular, I am a fan of the under appreciated sequel (of which there are many), but I also like the classics and the mainstream too.
