What does a Xenomorph eat? Does it consume its fallen prey, or does it survive on some other-worldly answer to royal jelly? It's a question we never see answered in any of the movies, yet it's something that has been debated among fans for decades.
Well, according to Alan Dean Foster’s novelisation of the original Alien movie, the creatures do actually need to eat, and apparently they're scavengers. During one section of the book, the crew searches the ship following Brett's death and come across the Alien polishing off their food supplies, suggesting that the thrill of the kill had given the creature a horrible case of the munchies.
