Since its release, much has been said about Gravity's breathtaking visuals. From its immersive long takes to its stunning cosmic vistas, the survival thriller undeniably deserved the praise and accolades it received.

Like most movies of its era, it was shot on digital cameras (Arri Alexa Classics, to be precise) but this was not the case for its concluding moments. The ending was shot on 65mm film as DP Emmanuel Lubezki wanted it to have an extra layer of realism, as film can capture minute details that would be typically glossed over by digital cameras.

In addition to this, Lubezki stated that the different format would reflect Ryan Stone's shifting perspective after finally arriving on Earth.
