As if this point hasn't been hammered home by now, Rocky's filmmakers had no damn money. When it came to filling the Spectrum Arena with crowds of cheering fans, director John Avildsen had a massive logistical problem.

So, in hopes of luring in some free labor, the film crew offered locals in Philadelphia a free chicken dinner to come watch the fictional match. Still, they only had fifty extras to use while filming the fight scenes. With some tricky camera work, Avildsen and crew were able to mimic the sights and sounds of a loud arena full of cheering fans.
