20 Things You Somehow Missed In The Truman Show

8. Sylvia Has Been Trying To Recruit Cast Members To Her Cause

Though Truman is married to Meryl, his true love is Sylvia (Natascha McElhone), an extra who ultimately attempts to reveal to Truman the truth of his existence, and continues to campaign for him to be set free.

A fleeting shot in Sylvia's apartment even reveals a bulletin board where it's clear Sylvia has been in contact with various cast members, trying to convince them to help her free Truman.

These cast members include such nondescript extras as a coffee vendor, a jogger, and a newsvendor who is actually seen in the film, and who apparently considered becoming a whistle-blower for Sylvia.

Elsewhere Truman's boss Laurence (Peter Krause) was "no hope" despite repeated attempts, while Sylvia wasn't even able to get near Louis/Marlon, perhaps suggesting that the main cast members are tightly locked down during shooting to ensure they aren't harassed by those attempting to breach the show.
