20 Underappreciated Blockbusters That Are Much Better Than You Remember
11. Spider-Man 3
Spider-Man 3 is by no means anywhere near as good as the first two entries in the franchise, but neither is it the wretched cinematic abomination that many people make it out to be. While it may be sacrilege to say this about one of the internet's most hated movies, there is undoubtedly something great buried underneath a fair amount of sh*t.
The 'more is more' approach is the movie's biggest shortcoming and if you lost the Sandman, Venom and cringeworthy emo Peter Parker storylines entirely, you'd end up with a streamlined and action-packed yet still character-driven blockbuster instead of a sequel bursting at the seams with superfluous story.
The production design, visual effects, direction and acting are all still topnotch and provide plenty of entertainment value and eye-popping set-pieces, but a combination of overindulgence and studio interference keep Spider-Man 3 well short of reaching its full potential.
