Release Date: June 24, 2016 Why It Could Beat Fury Road: 1996's Independence Day is a quintessential cheese classic and easily the best film directed by Roland Emmerich. While this sequel likely won't be able to fully replicate the feel of the original movie, with so much returning talent (namely Bill Pullman and Jeff Goldblum), they can give it a damn good shot nevertheless. How Likely Is It?: 4/10. Well, it's going to be PG-13 rated and nowhere near as gritty or violent as Mad Max, but as far as Looney Tunes-inspired insanity goes, ID2 should be a ton of fun. Emmerich if nothing else is a master at crafting destruction porn, which this belated sequel should deliver in spades. Just don't go in expecting much substance alongside it.
