20 Upcoming Action Movies That Could Beat Mad Max: Fury Road
7. Furious 8
Release Date: April 14, 2016 Why It Could Beat Fury Road: If Furious 7 proved anything, it's that the Fast and Furious franchise still has plenty of gas left in the tank, and even at number seven, the bond between the central characters is as strong as ever. Though it won't be nearly as technically precise as Fury Road, if Furious 8 can (somehow) find a way to once again one-up itself, that might not matter all too much. With fantastic characters (namely Dwayne Johnson's Agent Hobbes), hilarious banter and cartoonish action, the Furious franchise has become one of the most reliably entertaining blockbuster series over the last 5 years. How Likely Is It?: 7/10. As long as either Justin Lin or James Wan comes back to direct Furious 8, this one's sure to be a ton of fun, even if the plot might not be all that smart and casual sexism is kinda par the course. Furious 7 proved how superbly-executed action can compensate for less-thoughtful elements, and though Paul Walker's absence will be deeply felt throughout Furious 8, the fact that it will presumably see Dom (Vin Diesel) and co. fighting the Shaw Brothers (Jason Statham & Luke Evans) gives it insanely high stakes.
